In 2009, ACT and the Athlone Chamber of Commerce initiated the “Enterprise Club”, the objective being to provide a forum for people to meet on a regular basis in order to inspire enterprise, develop opportunities and pool ideas on supporting each other during the current recession. This in turn led to the development of the “Enterprise Forum”, which was launched on the 24th February 2011 and it aims to “Promote and encourage the development of enterprise in the area and support young businesses to foster their goals and ambitions.” Creating local Enterprise and Employment is a positive in the current negative economic and high unemployment environment. Prospective Entrepreneurs need encouragement and support to take that all important first step to start their own business with confidence. Athlone Community Taskforce would encourage these entrepreneurs to get involved with the Enterprise Forum and avail of the encouragement and support that it offers. www.enterpriseforum.ie
