Enterprise

Athlone Community Taskforce (ACT) was established in 1992 as an Athlone Rotary Club initiative. Since then it has purchased a premises with funds raised through regular contributions from employees , their employers, £100 ticket draws and State Agency Funding. The premises,  the Business Development Centre at Ball Alley Lane, Parnell Square, was developed to house ACT’s headquarters and incubation space for new enterprise. In addition to this, ACT provided supports for new enterprise by developing and delivering business courses, establishing a small loans fund and employing a full time Enterprise Officer. Since 1992, ACT  developed numerous projects employing more than 70 people which positively impacted on the lives of 5000 people in Athlone. In 2008, under the national cohesion programme, most of the projects and staff transferred to Westmeath Community Development Ltd.

Opportunity in a Million

Athlone Community Taskforce is launching a new initiative, “Opportunity in a Million”, on Friday 29th November 2013, at 18:30pm, in St Mary’s Hall, Northgate St. Athlone .It is a community response to a community problem,”Unemployment”.
